Research Activities at IMAF
During his residency at the Institut des mondes africains (IMAF), Campus Condorcet, Nyanto worked on the history of beer brewing in twentieth-century Tanzania. This line of research connects with broader questions of labour, production, and everyday economic practices, and speaks directly to the project’s interest in gendered work and urban economies.
He presented this work in a seminar held on 18 December 2024, contributing to ongoing discussions within the project. For more information click here.
Engagement with the Project
Beyond his individual research, Nyanto actively contributed to the intellectual life of the project. He met with students and researchers involved in WomatWork, providing feedback and mentoring.
In particular, he worked with a PhD researcher developing a case study on female labour in Tanzania, offering guidance on sources, framing, and research direction.
Contribution
Nyanto’s stay strengthened the project’s collaborative dimension, especially through his engagement with early-career researchers and his contribution to discussions on labour, economic practices, and social change in African contexts.
